Rice Krispies Treats For Toys (Giveaway!)

One of my favorite part about this time of the year are all of the holiday traditions. You know, like the family dinners. Or hanging the lights outside of the house while my clumsy butt tries not to fall off of the ladder. Or walking into a store the day after Halloween, seeing Christmas merchandise already out on display, and muttering to myself that it’s way too soon for that stuff.  Yup, I do love this festive season. And in the spirit of traditions, my good friends at Kellogg’s are celebrating the fifth annual Rice Krispies #TreatsForToys program!

They have once again partnered with The Salvation Army to encourage Canadian families to create a toy-shaped Rice Krispies treat and submit a photo on TreatsforToys.ca or share it in social media using the hashtag #TreatsforToys. Then, for every photo uploaded or shared on social, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army for the purchase of a toy for a Canadian child in need during the holidays.  They’re also issuing a new challenge, if you’re down for it – include a moving part into your toy shaped treat (don’t worry, you’re still cool if you don’t)!

To help spread the word, Kellogg’s sent me the following package (not the tree, though! That’s ours, and was used for artistic decor. Feel free to go “ooh” and “ahh”. Or not. Probably not), so my family could make their own delicious toy creations:

I let B and J do the honours.

And after me constantly telling them to stop sucking on the icing and eating all of the ingredients much hard work, here are their Rice Krispies “Mastoypieces”. Yes, I made that word up. Anyway, we weren’t able to incorporate any moving parts, unless you consider heaping globs of gooey icing dripping down as moving parts:

A half eaten car by B.

A princess by J.

Make. Share. Give.

Simple, right?

And to make it even simpler, how about I give you the same package that I got from Kellogg’s? Enter the contest below for your chance to win a prize pack!

BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One Review (and Giveaway!)

First impressions are everything, man.

For example, I remember the first time that I tried wasabi.  Completely oblivious to what it was, my initial bite was a BIG forkful, which clearly was a BIG mistake. It also somehow ended up in my eye, which was painful as it sounds. I didn’t touch wasabi for years after that. To me, it was uncomfortable, and not a good look.

Now, to be honest, the same way that I felt about wasabi, was the same way that I felt about baby carriers. See, our first carrier was an old, used one, and I wasn’t a fan of it as soon as I put it on. It was uncomfortable, and not a good look. It turned me off of carriers for years…..

Until my good friends at BabyBjörn hooked me up with a Baby Carrier One!

After using this bad boy for a few weeks now, I can honestly say that the Baby Carrier One was a real game-changer for me.

For example, my back felt sore after a few minutes with my old carrier on. However, because the Baby Carrier One is ergonomic, I feel fine every time that I wear it. As well, I really like the soft, thick shoulder straps.  The straps in my old one weren’t nearly as well designed, and dug into my arms. I should also say that it’s pretty easy to use. My old one required a lot of reaching behind me and stretching, to properly put it on.  I’m just not that flexible anymore, dude, so I’m down for slipping the Baby Carrier One over my head, buckling up appropriately, and being good to go.

The wide head rest and seating  seem to make for easy, comfy riding for KJ, as well. He appeared to be content (for a while) and well-supported when being lugged around in it.

I’m not just talking from an in-facing position, either. The Baby Carrier One is designed to carry your child inwards, outwards, or on your back, depending on their age. Speaking of that, I was surprised to see that it is equipped to safely handle newborns through to approximately three year olds! BabyBjörn ain’t lying when they say that’s it the only one that you need.

So, yeah, my experience using the Baby Carrier One has opened up such a whole new world, that I’m feeling like Peabo Bryson now (get it?). Bad Aladdin analogy aside, who knew that carriers could be so stylish, comfortable, and versatile? Definitely not I, that’s for sure.

Truth be told, my opinion is heavily skewed positively, as comparing what I was using, to what I have now, is like comparing apples to a Cadillac – there is no comparison.  But hey, don’t take my word for it. Even NHL superstar Connor McDavid thinks this thing is dope!

Disclaimer: I have no idea if NHL superstar Connor McDavid thinks this thing is dope. I have never met him, and this is a picture of me next to a lifelike image of him.

Ok, seriously, if you’re in the market for a carrier, do your research.  I’m sure you’ll see that the Baby Carrier One is a premium product that’s worth your money. I’m also sure that your first impression of it will be better than my wasabi experience.

Don’t forget to check out BabyBjörn’s latest #dadstories campaign, by the way.  I’m on board with any company that understands the evolving role of fatherhood, and promotes the power of “dads inspiring dads.”

Alright, giveaway time. Let’s hook one lucky reader up with a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One. Enter below, for your chance to win!

Giveaway – Hip Hop Into Spring With Kellogg’s Rice Krispies!

Spring is definitely my favorite season.  After a long, cold, dreary winter, things just feel more exciting this time of the year.

And speaking of eggciting (Haha, you see what I did there? Hey, what do you mean you hate puns?), Easter is also just around the corner. As such, my good friends at Kellogg’s, with a little help from the Easter Bunny, had this sweet package delivered to my doorstep:

J was not included in the package.

The new Spring Edition Rice Krispies Squares Bars put a spring in my step when I tried them (what do you mean you still hate puns?). B, J and yours truly also enjoyed using the new Spring Edition Rice Krispies Cereal to make some eggstraordinarily (Ok, ok, I’ll stop) gooey treats!

An egg by B.

An egg’s nest by J.

A ‘WTF is this supposed to be?’ by me. It didn’t go eggsactly as planned, clearly.

Be sure to hip-hop on over (I’m sorry, I have a pun problem, I know. Please don’t eggnore the rest of the post) to the Yummy Recipes – Special Occasions section on www.ricekrispies.ca, and the Rice Krispies Canada Pinterest Page at pinterest.com/RiceKrispiesCA/ for your own treat-making inspiration.

Aight, no more yolkin’ around. Let’s get crackin’ on a giveaway. Omelettin’ you have a chance to win the same package of Easter goodness that I received from Kellogg’s! Just fill out the entry form below, no further eggsplanation needed.

Giveaway! Kellogg’s Rings In The New Year With Tasty New Products

What up, peeps!

Hopefully 2017 is off to a great start for you.

In our house, the addition of baby KJ has made things a lot more interesting….and busier.  It’s crazy how much stuff you forget, when you already have a child (or children), but then add another. I sucked at changing diapers, for example, and, unfortunately for KJ, I’m realizing that this is still the case.

Speaking of additions (#awkwardtransition),  Kellogg’s has added eight new babies to their lineup of products!  From quinoa and dark chocolate to mixed nuts and real fruit pieces, these products feature appealing flavours to meet the needs of Canadians consumers.

First up, Kellogg’s Special K Nourish has two new varieties, Mixed Berries and Dark Chocolate Coconut. A high source of fibre, Nourish granolas are deliciously crispy and feature popped quinoa, puffed rice, wheat and toasted oats combined with real, visible ingredients.

Next, Kellogg’s All-Bran line has some offerings. Granola – Cranberry Almond is filled with real raisins, cranberries and almonds. This new granola is a particular favourite of B an J. As well,  Kellogg’s All-Bran Multi-Grain Crunch cereal, with six grams of fibre per serving, including psyllium fibre, is ideal for helping Canadians lower cholesterol, maintain a healthy body weight and promote digestive health.

I personally am a big fan of bars, and Kellogg’s is busting out three fresh ones, for the lineup. Special K Nourish Coconut Cashew & Dark Chocolate and Caramel, Sea Salt & Mixed Nuts bars are made with no artificial flavours or colours, and feature quinoa and gluten-free oats.

Kellogg’s Vector Protein Trail Mix Bars contain a delicious combination of cranberries, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and peanuts. Partially dipped in a smooth, chocolatey coating and containing 10 grams of protein per serving, these new Vector Protein bars help satisfy hunger and provide energy.

Finally (and this is the one that made me react like an NBA benchwarmer after someone makes an amazing play during a game), Pringle’s Ketchup chips are a real thing. A real, delicious, glorious thing.

Now, fortunately for yours truly, my good friends at Kellogg’s sent my family all of these products to try.

What’s that, you say? You want to see the same picture, but with B and J in it, wearing fedoras, and making goofy faces? I don’t know why you want to see that, but OK!

Anyway,  after putting them to a vigorous taste test, I can vouch for all of them. You won’t be disappointed, in their yumminess, so be sure to give ’em a try!

Alight, giveaway time. Enter below, for your chance to win a prize pack containing all of the new products that I mentioned!

Happy holidays, y’all!

Since it is the holiday season, Kellogg’s, for the fourth year in a row, is celebrating their Rice Krispies Treats For Toys Program. And for the second year in a row, I’m going back to back like Drake, and helping to promote this cool initiative.

Kellogg’s has once again partnered with The Salvation Army to encourage Canadians across the country to create a toy-shaped Rice Krispies treat and share a photo on TreatsforToys.ca, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #TreatsforToys.

For every photo uploaded or shared on social, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army for the purchase of an actual toy for a child in need during the festive season. Make. Share. Give.

Back-to-School Prize Pack

It’s September, which means that a new school year is just around the corner. In our house, this is a particularly exciting time, as J is going to be entering kindergarten!

Now, being a bit of a foodie, J has spent the summer endlessly talking about the different, elaborate foods that she wants in her lunch at school. I’m really going to have to step my lunchbox snack game up, to satisfy her palate!

Speaking of which, my friends at Kellogg’s have also stepped their snack game up, by introducing some exciting new products:  Nutri-Grain Fruit & Nut Medley Bars and Rice Krispies Squares Brown Rice Bars!

As the name implies, Fruit & Nut Medley Bars are a wholesome blend of fruit, nuts, crispy puffed rice and whole grain gluten-free oats. Available in two delicious flavours, Orchard Cherries & Almonds and Harvest Blueberries & Mixed Nuts, these are bars are a perfect snack for anytime in the day.

Giveaway – Monster Jam Hamilton Tickets!

GraveDigger in action!

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

One of the highlights each year in our household is when the Monster Jam Tour makes its way to Hamilton. I’ve been a fan of monster trucks since I was a kid.  Back in the day, many an hour was spent by me having a smashing good time using my toy trucks to re-enact the derbies that I saw on TV, Conversely, many a frustrating hour was also spent by me unsuccessfully trying to beat the Bigfoot game on my old Nintendo.

20160315_221459_HDR

Seriously. It was a hard game.

Nowadays, B has taken a liking to them, too. He looks forward to when the tour comes to town. It’s been pretty cool, watching him enjoy the shows with the same awe and amazement that I used to have!

If you’ve never been before, it really is awesome. Giant, twelve foot tall, ten thousand pound trucks racing (or leaping!) through a track loaded with obstacles. It’s quite the spectacle. And the best part is it’s very family friendly. The audience is full of boys and girls of all ages, cheering on their favorites.

This year, Monster Jam rolls into Hamilton on April 23 and 24. My good friends there have generously hooked me up with tickets for my fam, so I’ll be in attendance.

However, I’d like to hook you up, too. Enter below for a chance to win a family pack of four tickets to the April 23rd show. Good luck, and don’t forgot to bring ear plugs (No, for real, don’t forget them. It gets loud!)

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys

treatstoys

For the third year in a row, Kellogg’s is doing something really cool this holiday season, to help bring a smile to some children in need. Once again, they’ve partnered with the Salvation Army for the #TreatsforToys program! And this year, for the first time, I have the honor of helping promote this great initiative.

It’s pretty easy for you to get involved, too. All you have to do is make some delicious Rice Krispies Treats, and then use them to make a toy-shaped treat. You can either use one of the five example recipes shown at www.treatsfortoys.ca, or you can design your own creation. After you are done, share your work on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the #TreatsforToys hashtag. For every picture uploaded between now and December 21, 2015, Rice Krispies will donate $20 (to a maximum of $30,000) to the Salvation Army, to go towards buying toys for children!

Perhaps realizing that I’m not the most creative dude, Kellogg’s even made things easier for me. They sent me a Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys Kit!

20151118_202715_HDR

Ta-da!

What’s that, you say? You want to see what is actually in the kit, preferably with my daughter posing beside it ,like Vanna White?

That’s a really random request, but you got it!

20151118_203109_HDR

Chock full of inspiration, the kids and I narrowed our choices down (a princess by J and and a dinosaur by B), and we went to work!

20151122_155750_HDR

OK, OK, you got me. They made a mess and gobbled the candy decorations, while I baked.

Eventually, however, we did finish our masterpieces! B’s dinosaur:

20151122_163627_HDR

And J’s princess:

20151122_163658_HDR

One of our recent family holiday traditions has been getting B and J to pick out toys that they don’t play with anymore, which they would like to donate. Just our own little way of giving back.  Admittedly, the first time we tried this, it didn’t go so well.  It has gotten better, though.

Not surprisingly, my kids found the Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys program to be a more fun (and yummy) way to help out a good cause!

Speaking of giving back, how about I hook you up, like Kellogg’s hooked me up? Enter below, for your chance to win a free Rice Krispies Kit.

Giveaway – Kellogg’s Vector Prize Pack!

How’s your summer going?

I don’t know about you, but my family has been pretty active. We all enjoy being outdoors and partaking in various activities.  A nice, cold breakfast really helps, in starting the day off right. So, imagine my pleasant surprise when this package of awesomeness showed up at the house recently, courtesy of my good friends at Kellogg’s:

J beat me to it.

J beat me to it.

To help fuel (and fill) busy families like mine, Kellogg’s recently launched a new product – Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour! Per serving, you’re looking at 20g of protein, 5g of fibre, and 10 vitamins and minerals.  I’ve tried them with milk and yogurt. Very tasty, you can’t go wrong either way! Plus it comes in a resealable package, which is handy when you’re camping, or hiking, or you get hungry while driving around aimlessly, windows down, volume turned up, rapping along to “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (that last one is probably just me).

Now, I’d like to hook you up, like I got hooked up. Enter below, for your chance to win the Vector  Pack that I received (so….much….tastiness)!

A few months ago, I was out and about, when I saw a poster saying that Marvel Universe LIVE! was coming to Hamilton.  Not even knowing that this tour existed, my initial reaction was ‘That can’t be real!’

Oh, it’s real, though. It’s so real.

To defeat Loki, Marvel’s biggest Super Heroes must band together, including The Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor along with Spider-Man and Wolverine, must trek across the globe to retrieve the Cosmic Cube fragments and unite them. As the Super Heroes track the Cube, they will encounter some of their biggest adversaries including Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Red Skull, Madame Hydra, Aldrich Killian, Electro and more, in the quest for the very same fragments.
